Jewel Staite (Jewel Belair Staite) wurde am 02. Juni 1982 in White Rock, British Columbia, Kanada geboren. Jewel Staite begann schon in sehr jungen Jahren zu modeln und machte ihre ersten Erfahrungen mit der Schauspielerei bereits im Alter von 6 Jahren. Später ging Jewel Staite dann zur Vancouver Film School und arbeitete ausserdem beim Vancouver Youth Theatre.
Am bekanntesten ist Jewel Staite wohl für ihre Rolle als Kaylee Frye in der kurzlebigen SciFi-/Westernserie Firefly und dem später darauf basierenden Kinofilm Serenity. Ausserdem steuerte Jewel Staite das Kapitel „Kaylee Speaks: Jewel Staite On Firefly“ zu Jane Espensons Buch Finding Serenity bei.
